Volunteering can be a rewarding way to impact your community. Here, at Goodwill Fire Company, we have many different jobs that we need help with. Find the job that you find to be the most interesting and then submit your application. It’s that easy.
The different positions that we have available are:
FIREFIGHTERS
Firefighters are our first line of defense out in the communities in which we serve. They are self motivated individuals that work well in a team environment to get the job done safely. They have the desire and determination to succeed, and have a willingness to learn the trade. They respond to all types of calls under many diverse and dangerous conditions 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, and 365 days a year.
Requirements: Be 18 years of age; Submit application; Pass a background check; Submit $15 application fee ($10 for background check and $5 for membership dues)
Minimal Training: Essentials in Fire Fighting; Haz Mat Operations; & Basic Vehicle Rescue Awareness
No training needed at the time of application. Training will be provided by the Department.
FIRE POLICE
Maybe firefighting isn’t for you, but you still want to be able to respond and help out at fire scenes and accidents. Then, join our Fire Police Division. Goodwill’s Fire Police help keep the scenes we respond to, as well as the responders, safe. They use their training to divert or block traffic so the other first responders can get the job done in a safe manner. Fire Police are a necessary part of any scene. Sometimes our Fire Police are utilized, even when the Fire Department isn’t needed. They have been known to assist the Police Department, Public Works, Penn DOT, and other surrounding Fire Departments, as well as responding on all of Goodwill’s calls.
Requirements: Be 18 years of age; Submit application; Pass a background check; Submit $15 application fee ($10 for background check and $5 for membership dues)
Minimal Training: Basic Fire Police; Haz Mat Awareness
No training needed at the time of application. Training will be provided by the Department.
CONTRIBUTING MEMBER
Contributing members are the people behind the scenes of the Department. They are members who make themselves available to make sure the Department continues to run smoothly. They assist with many fundraising events such as Bingo, Chicken BBQs, our Bluegrass events, and other events throughout the year.
They are members who are full, active members of the Department. They may attend any station event, and may attend the monthly meetings. They may run for Administrative offices, and have voting privileges.

This way, when they do become Senior Firefighters, they have the training and knowledge to be able to move forward with their volunteer career, having already obtained the crucial experience needed.
