From the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia comes one of bluegrass music’s most honest voices in the genre’s history, Junior Sisk. Over the years, his haunting, almost lonesome vocals has earned him the devotion of countless traditional bluegrass fans from all over the world. His songwriting talents helped the Lonesome River Band make their ascent into bluegrass stardom in the early 1990’s and then he became a member of Wyatt Rice & Santa Cruz and ultimately Blueridge, again reaching new audiences that would eventually follow him on his own musical path. In 1998, Sisk formed Ramblers Choice and together they recorded and released their first solo project titled Sounds Of The Mountains and also contributed to the award winning The Stanley Gospel Tradition. Nominated numerous times for Male Vocalist of the Year by the International Bluegrass Music Association (IBMA) and Society for the Preservation of Bluegrass Music in America (SPBGMA), Junior Sisk is at the top of his game and has surrounded himself with a top notch band of musicians including Jason Tomlin on bass and vocals; Chris Davis on mandolin and vocals; Billy Hawks on fiddle and vocals; and Jason Davis on banjo and vocals. The band recently released their third CD on Rebel Records titled The Heart Of A Song to much critical acclaim. The CD is enjoying great success and is #2 on Bluegrass Music Profiles (BMP) Top 10 National CDs (1/12), #5 on Bluegrass Unlimited’s National Survey Top 10 (1/12) and the single, “A Far Cry From Lester And Earl” is #1 on BMP’s Top 30 Hot Singles (12/11 and 1/12) as well as #7 on Bluegrass Unlimited’s Top 30 Singles (1/12).

From The Daily Record:The cause of the fire that destroyed the home of a family of four is unknown early this morning, said Deputy Chief Scott Bowman of Goodwill Fire Company in York Township.
Bowman said a Brogue ambulance was driving through the area when those inside saw smoke and called in the fire around 10:42 p.m.
There was heavy smoke and flames at rear of trailer, and Bowman called it a "big box of kindling."
Firefighters had two lines in service and a few people inside fighting the flames until they were pulled out because it got worse, Bowman said. One firefighter was injured after he tripped and hurt his knee. He was taken to York Hospital.
Two adults and two children were displaced and are getting assistance from the Red Cross, Bowman said. Firefighters couldn't find the family dog, and they believe it is dead.
The family wasn't at home when the fire broke out. York Area Regional Police are assisting the investigation into the cause.
Bowman said the trailer is a total loss, but had no cost estimate.
Firefighters from Dallastown, Red Lion, Yoe, West York and Wrightsville assisted with the blaze....
